Throwaways, Vol. 1 (demo) is a compilation of free original songs for you to do with what you will (record/cover/remix/sample/etc.). I hereby give my permission to anyone to use this material freely and without obligation to pay royalty. These pieces are from a selection of old material that I no longer feel any connection to—as they were written by a younger person with different sensibilities—but that I do feel are perhaps substantial enough to hold their own as songs. They were written earnestly and as truthfully as I knew how at the time, and now time has passed, and instead of feeling ownership over these songs I feel the reciprocal of that, and as such now I am freeing myself of them; a psychic house-cleaning. Please excuse the shitty demo-tape quality, but as you can understand I’m not going to too much trouble recording these. That being said, I imagine most of these could be interpreted as rock, pop, folk, or country songs with a little creativity. Detailed lyric/chord charts can be found above. So please feel free to reimagine this material however you’d like if anything catches you, or feel free to tell me to fuck off and dump my trash elsewhere. If, however, you do a version of the former, all I’d ask is that you give me credit as songwriter. Happy music making, and as the great Joe Pug says: “keep your eye on the song.”
